We are entering the 4th quarter of this NFL season and the playoff races are reaching a boiling point. With only 4 games remaining, the question is now being asked, who is the best team in the NFL?
Well, if you are going by records, then you would have to start with the four 10-2 teams. The Patriots, Steelers, Vikings, and Eagles. All four of these teams have looked strong all year with the Pats and Vikings currently on an 8 game winning streaks and the Steelers on a 7 game streak.
But who is the best team is a matter of opinion. And in my opinion, the team playing the best complete football right now are the Minnesota Vikings. Now I know, the Pats have Tom Brady and that whole crew, but their defense has been shaky at best this year which would be hard to trust deep in the playoffs. The Steelers have looked strong, especially after that comeback win Monday night, and Big Ben is playing some great football right now. The Eagles are a little too young and untested for me to put them at the top.
Minnesota has been playing the most complete brand of football all season with a QB committee. Which, yes, is a little scary not to have that consistency under center. But Kase Keenum has really stepped up for this team along with the emergence of players like Adam Thielen and a stout defense that turns the ball over.
And then how do you quantify the 9-3 teams like the Saints and Rams? one less win, but still great teams leading their divisions. I’ll stick with my answer for now…until next week at least. Because as we all know, the NFL stands for Not For Long.
