Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Lebron James. No, it’s not the line up of the next Olympic dream team, it might end up being the 2019 Golden State Warriors.
Rumors have started to swirl that LeBron James is open to sitting down with the Warriors after this season to explore the possibility of joining forces with the defending champs. How could this be possible you ask? Well, if LeBron opts out of his contract at the end of the season, which he is expected to do, then he becomes a free agent once again. That’s where the Warriors come in.
Golden State could theoretically make this deal happen if they can dump enough salary by completing a sign and trade. Because make no mistake about it, James has already said he will not sign for anything less than the max. The Warriors and Cavs would have to complete a sign and trade that would send Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala to Cleveland and then have Kevin Durant opt-in for less money with a new contract.
If they can do all of that and have enough money to fill out the bench with veteran minimum players than this ridiculous deal could actually end up happening during free agency this summer. Don’t rule it out, LeBron, Bosh, and Wade were once considered to be a pipe dream as well.
