The Miami Heat are coming home tomorrow night after a 4 game road trip. It’s another road trip where they didn’t gain any ground in the standings. And that’s the problem.
The Heat went into Cleveland a few nights ago at 10-9 and in 8th place in the east, they lost that game and the game after that in Madison Square Garden to the Knicks. Now they are back below .500 at 10-11 and 10th place in the east.
Yes, it’s still very early in the season, but if anyone knows the importance of gaining consistency early on, it should be this team. The Heat were dreadful in the first half of the season last year, only to find their stride after the all-star break and miss the playoffs by 1 game. Bet you they wish they could have had some of those early season losses back.
The fact is with this team, they have enough talent to be competitive in the East. Their only issue right now is finding some semblance of consistency to gain some ground and confidence. It almost seems like there is a bit of an identity crisis with this team. It needs to get figured out soon though, because the schedule won’t get any easier.
