National title game preview, will Saban get another one?

Speak of the Devil and he shall appear. Nick Saban will be going for his 6th national championship tonight when Alabama takes on SEC foe Georgia. It would be his 5th title as Alabama head coach, but 6th overall going back to his days at LSU.

If Saban and the Tide can win tonight, he would tie another Alabama legend named Bear Bryant for the most titles in NCAA history with 6. The Bear won all of his though with Bama. The fact of the matter is though, history is on the line tonight for the Crimson Tide and Nick Saban. Love him or hate him, or whether you think he is the Devil or a god, he is one hell of a coach. And after tonight, could be considered the best to ever walk the sidelines in the college game.

Standing in his way though is one of his former coaches and the Georgia Bulldogs. Kirby Smart was Saban’s defensive coordinator at Alabama for 8 seasons from 2007-2015. This is only Smart’s second year on the job as the head man at Georgia. Not only is he trying to lead the Bulldogs to their first national title since 1980, but he is also trying to become the first Saban Assistant to beat the old boss head to head. All the others have failed.

So the question becomes tonight, do we see a changing of the guard? A passing of the torch if you will, or will the master show the Padawan that he still has much to learn.
