Wife Who Shot Husband Plans to Use “Stand your Ground” Defense

A Boynton Beach woman who was arrested after shooting her husband during a domestic dispute plans to use the “stand your ground” defense during the trial.

53-year-old Lisa Barreca was arrested on Monday after she shot her husband five times during an argument at their home on Aspen Leaf Drive in Boynton.

According to investigators, the couple was fighting over HOA complaints when Lisa went into their garage retrieved a weapon and shot her husband.

Her husband sustained injuries to his head, both his arms, his right leg and back. He was last listed in stable condition.

Authorities noted that Lisa refused to speak to them initially and did not show any signs of remorse or ask about his injuries. She also did not call 911 or attempt to treat him herself at the scene.

Lisa made appeared before a judge on Friday where she was deined bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
