Like the rest of America post Super Bowl LII I am wondering why cornerback Malcolm Butler played only one snap (on special teams) in the biggest game of the year and zero on defense. I will emphasize that i am speculating here but what else outside of stealing your coach’s girlfriend could Butler have done to deserve such a cruel and heartless punishment ? This wreaks of the arrogance of the man dubbed the greatest coach in the history of American team sports, he basically shot himself in the foot and then convinced himself that he could outrun Usain Bolt in a 100 yard sprint. This is beyond dumb, it was flat out stupid and history will look back at Belichek’s decision with disdain.

Butler the hero of Super Bowl XLIX played 97.8 percent of New England’s defensive snaps during the regular season—the highest percentage of any player on the team—yet him seeing the field only on special teams in Super Bowl LII makes absolutely zero sense.

“They gave up on me,” Butler told ESPN’s Mike Reiss “F*** it ,  It is what it is.” He later added that “it was a coach’s decision.” “I was just doing my job and supporting my teammates,” he said. “I have nothing but great things to say about the organization. They gave me an opportunity. That’s about it.”

Nope that is not about it. Despite dying a slow, and painful, agonizing death on defense to the tune of  538 total yards, 7.6 yards per play, and 41 points. Belichek never made an emergency call to arguably his best defensive cornerback.  Arrogance.  Well i guess he proved his point. He is the one in charge. The usually solid and close knit Patriot locker room it was reported was divided during the game. Ex players of the organization took to social media to question this idiotic decision of Belichek’s.

Maybe i am being too harsh on the legendary coach for being too harsh on his player ? Perhaps the truth will come out and validate what everyone is questioning today ? However until it does we can only give or opinion of this head scratching decision. I would call this an all time dumb decision.
