Former NASCAR Driver James Hylton, 83, passed away following a car crash on Interstate 85 in Franklin County, Georgia Saturday Morning. Hylton’s 63 year old son, James Hylton Jr. was also killed in the crash when their vehicle ran off the roadway and hit an embankment.

Hylton Sr. won 2 Cup Series races during a career that amassed 603 starts. His last cup series start came in 1993. In addition to his cup career, he also made 175 ARCA starts competing full time from 2009-2013 before retiring at 78 years old.

Hylton Sr. still owns an ARCA team and was at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday for the General Tire 200.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hylton family during this difficult time.
