Dolphins running back Frank Gore might be returning for a 15th NFL season.

That’s the word from a source who is familiar with the situation but requested anonymity, according to The Associated Press, since Gore has not commented publicly.

Gore, the NFL’s leading active rusher, has been sidelined since suffering a sprained foot during last week’s game against Minnesota.

The 35-year-old has played in 126 consecutive games, with 122 starts in-a-row, both setting records for an NFL offensive skill player.

He signed a one-year-deal with the Dolphins in March, and currently leads the team with 722 yards rushing.

The Dolphins (7-7) face the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-10) at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. in an attempt to keep their playoff hopes alive.
