HS Football Week 3 Recap

Week 3 of the high school football season is over and the college football season is rolling along with a bevy of locals making big plays on the field. As we recap this past week, we remind you that you can get real time scoring updates on our scoreboard every Friday Night right here on 640TheHurricane.com


Coach Kokell Show: As a show, Kokell and E.L. gave a game ball to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas football team for coming away with a 17 point victory in their first home game since enduring a school shooting.

Kokell: Dwyer’s defense was extra “rude” this week, accounting for three interception returned for touchdowns.

E.L.: Pahokee DB Deonte Nelson had three interceptions and a 99 yard touchdown catch.


Although Diener (Kevin’s Other Show) picked it, the fashion in which Cardinal Newman dominated Olympic Heights was shocking. Led by tailback Chris D’or’s 239 yards rushing the Crusaders cruised past the Lions 40-20.

Wellington’s Mark Richards only rushed the ball six times in the Wolverines 14-8 win over Park Vista.


Kokell (Coach Kokell Show) was nearly perfect this week going 18-2 and improves to 48-12 on the season. E.L. (Coach Kokell Show) had a solid week going 13-7.  Diener (Kevin’s Other Show) reverted back to .500 form finishing 10-10. and is now tied with E.L. overall with a record of 34-26.


Pahokee quarterback Jason Campbell completed a 99-yard touchdown pass….After rolling Lasalle, Benjamin has now outscored opponents 99-15 this year…In defeating Spanish River, Brian Pulaski picked up his first win as head coach of the Suncoast Chargers… King’s Academy has scored an average of 45 points in their first three games…Boca Raton sophomore Rashawn Faustine returned two kicks for touchdowns in the Bobcats win over Boynton Beach… Royal Palm has been only scored 13 points so far this season. Their gauntlet of an opening schedule continues as they take on Forest Hill next… Palm Beach Central sent a message this week with a convincing 63-7 pounding of Miami Braddock. Martin County’s ATH George Johnson got the start at QB for the Tigers and threw two touchdown passes.

Martin County became a a no fly zone as Jensen Beach alums Nico Sawtelle (USF) and Jamien Sherwood (Auburn) and Martin County HS alum Justin Simmons (Denver Broncos) all had interceptions….Santaluces alums Darrell Langham (38 yard reception) and Zach McCloud (six tackles) had solid days for the Hurricanes…  Amari Carter (Palm Beach Gardens) added 6 tackles and a sack and Jonathan Garvin (Lake Worth) dominated defensively for the Canes….Dwyer alum Johnnie Dixon (Ohio state) had 2 TD receptions in the Buckeyes win….Devin Singletary (American Heritage) broke out for a 38 yard touchdown run for FAU. ..  Daniel Parr (Dwyer) threw for 235 yards in Duquense win over Valpo….Lamar Jackson (Boynton Beach) led the Ravens on a touchdown drive.
