NFL Week 5
Alright football fans, I’ve decided to start a “Football Friday” blog where I’ll discuss my top games, my winner/loser predictions, and stand-out players for each week of the NFL season. So welcome to the first Just Jordyn’s Football Friday and don’t worry, I’m not here to bore you with stats and irrelevant players, let’s focus on what the fans want to see!
Let’s start with Thursday Night Football and the game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots. I went into this game expecting a pretty big blowout and was confident the Patriots would come out on top. Which they did, as Brady threw for his 500th touchdown pass and the return of Julian Edelman and first real appearance of Josh Gordon landed the Patriots in the winner’s circle.
We’re just two days away from my favorite day of the week- Sunday (Football) Funday and there’s definitely a few games I’m itching to see. Of course, I want to watch my Buffalo Bills destroy the Tennessee Titans but the educated football fan in me knows that’s going to be tough. I’ll always root for my team so I’m pulling for the Bills to be victorious against the visiting Titans.
Next up we’ve got the Atlanta Falcons and the Pittsburgh Steelers. If you remember, I boldly picked the Steelers to go all the way this season and it looks like that prediction jinxed the black and yellow. However, I’m going to stick with my guns and pick the Steelers on this one. This game will be very close and high scoring with both quarterbacks tossing passes down the field in a frenzy.
My game of the week is unquestionably the Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City. I am in awe of Patrick Mahomes and how incredible his arm is, even if he does sound like Kermit the Frog when he opens his mouth. The Jags defense will be alllllllllllll over Mahomes and I can’t wait to watch how this one plays out. I’m picking the Chiefs to take it and keep shocking the NFL fans.
I pick the Broncos to dominate over zombie quarterback Sam Darnold and the Jets. Aaron Rodgers will light up the Lions, poor Baker and his Browns will fall to the Ravens, and Carolina will come out fighting after their bye week. My eye candy Christian McCaffrey will make fantasy fans very happy this week.
The other game I’m interested in is the Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati. With New England success last night, this game is now a must win for Miami to remain atop the division and it’s going to be tough to stop the Bengals offense. Tannehill will keep it close with Cincinnati’s struggling defense but I pick the Bengals to come out with a win.
The Raiders will fall to 1 and 4 and Arizona will continue to prove they’re the worst team in the NFL. The notoriously over-rated Jimmy G is out (which I will still proclaim I knew was going to happen) and Beathard his back-up will not get “beat hard” in this game. The reigning Super Bowl champs will hand another loss to the pitiful Minnesota Vikings because if my Bills can beat the Vikings, I’m confident Philadelphia can too.
The Los Angeles Rams are the best team in football right now and I predict they’ll continue their supremacy, especially over a tough Seattle team at home. The Cowboys are plain awful and Dak Prescott is anything but a star. The man struggles to reach 200 yards per game and that won’t do in the world of Mahomes, Brees, Rodgers, and Brady. Ezekiel Elliott is closer and closer to burning out and the Texans will take this one.
Finally, Monday Night Football will be one for the record books as Drew Brees will set the all-time record for passing yards in a career, needing just about 200 more. The Saints are back home against Washington and even though the Redskins are coming off a bye, I predict Brees and his boys will get the win on this one.
Just living life and loving every moment. Just Jordyn.
