Lights Out At Tropicana Field

This was a pitching duel from the beginning with Masahiro Tanaka going 7 innings with 7 K’s to lead the Yankees to a 7-1 win over the Rays on Mother’s Day. The Yankees held on to a 2-run lead against the Tampa Bay Rays in the top of the 9th inning until a Power Surge actually turned off the lights to the 30-year-old Domed Tropicana Field and is considered the worst park in MLB. Plagued by low attendance every year and playing in an old stadium, the Rays have been searching for a new home for years.

Despite the unusual delay that lasted 45 minutes, Thairo Estrada smashed a solo home run that began a 4-run inning to begin the 9th. More guys like Urshela, LeMahieu and Tauchman continue to step up while the big guns are sidelined with injuries.
