Maybin & Encarnacion Take Spotlight

Cameron Maybin and Edwin Encarnacion stole the spotlight in the Yankees 6-3 victory over the Rays despite the return of Giancarlo Stanton going 0-4 with 2 strikeouts. Sure, the critics will say Stanton looked rusty but that was not the case for Didi Gregorious and Aaron Hicks who have come out swinging when they returned. Let’s talk about hot-hitting outfielder Cameron Maybin, who homered for the fourth day in a row and has never been known to be a power hitter. Yankees starter J.A. Happ gutted his way through 5 innings and giving up 2 runs on 7 hits with 3 K’s.

Either way, the Yankees’ key hits were singles from the familiar faces of DJ LeMahieu, Luke Voit, Gleyber Torres and Gary Sanchez. It was the Yankees fourth straight after they dropped three straight on the road. New York Leads the AL East by 2½ games over Tampa Bay.
