National signing day wins and losses for the Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes were looking to score big today on national signing day. Granted, most of their recruits already signed during the early signing period. But there were still some highly prized players that Canes wanted and needed.

They got one of those needs and wants with the official signing of 4 star American Heritage DT Nesta Silvera. Nesta had already verbally committed to the U, but made it official this morning. Miami also got 4-star Athlete out of Georgia, Marquez Ezzard. The speedster will join an already deep Canes WR corps.

Miami did strike out on a couple of recruits though. Patrick Surtain Jr, who was the number 1 ranked CB in the country and the 6th overall best prospect decided to sign with Alabama over the Hurricanes and Clemson. They also missed out on another CB, Tyson Campbell, who picked Georgia over Bama and Miami.

Tyson Campbell’s signing propelled Georgia into the number 1 slot of best-recruiting classes. Just ahead of Ohio St. Miami was already ranked in the top 10 with their stellar recruiting class, and now sit at number 4, with the adding of their new recruits today and number 1 in the ACC.

All in all, Miami didn’t get everyone they wanted, but this has been a very successful recruiting campaign.
