New College Football Playoff standings (Preview)

With #1, Alabama and #2, Miami losing over the holiday weekend, it is obvious that we are going to see some major changes when the new college football playoff rankings are released tonight.

Clemson should move up from #3 to the new #1 ranked team after dominating South Carolina Saturday night. Number 2 will most likely go to Oklahoma since the committee seems to be impressed by their strength of schedule and the amount of points they are putting on the board.

This is where it gets a bit tricky, who will be number 3? Do you give it to a two loss Auburn team who just beat their second number 1 team this season after defeating Alabama? Or will it go to undefeated Wisconsin? The committee hates Wisconsin’s strength of schedule and has given them no respect all season long. For that reason alone, I expect to see Auburn at #3 and Wisconsin at #4 when the rankings come out tonight.

Alabama and Georgia should be 5 and 6, while Miami and Ohio St. will be 7 and 8, at least in my opinion. These rankings set the table for a winner take all weekend coming up on this championship Saturday. Miami vs Clemson, Auburn vs Georgia, Oklahoma vs TCU, Ohio St vs Wisconsin, all will be decided when those games play out this Saturday night.
