Owls Suffer Big Loss in Season Opener Against No. 7 Oklahoma

The FAU Owls dropped their first game of the season to No. 7 Oklahoma on Saturday, with a 63-14 final scorein front of 86,400 fans at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

Not exactly the kind of start Lane Kiffin was hoping for in starting his second season as the Owls’ head coach, following a highly successful debut last season.

Oklahoma scored touchdowns on its first four possessions of the game, and grew its lead to 42 by halftime.

The Sooners held FAU to just 324 total yards and two touchdowns, while enjoying a 56-point advantage in the third quarter with 649 yards on offense.

Running back Devin “Motor” Singletary finally put the Owls on the board, scoring on a short 5-yard run with less than a minute to go in the third quarter. Backup Kerrith Whyte added another touchdown with 4:13 remaining.

This Saturday, the Owls face Air Force on home turf in Boca Raton. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
