The sad saga of Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez has taken another turn.

Fernandez’s family home is being foreclosed on and is set to be put up for public auction on Sept. 23.

This date is actually just two days short of the anniversary of Fernandez’s death. He was killed in a boating accident on Sept. 25, 2016.

An investigation found that Fernandez was driving the boat impaired when it crashed off Government Cut. Two other men on the boat, Emilio Macias and Eduardo Rivera, were also killed.

I spoke to Fernandez’s attorney Ralph Fernandez, who is a family friend, but not related.
