For the first time in franchise history, the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl Champions.

Nick Foles, backup Quarterback, won Super Bowl LII MVP leading the Eagles in a 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots after stepping in for Eagles Star Quarterback Caron Wentz who sustained a season-ending knee injury in December.

Along with 373 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, Foles is the only football player in history to throw a touchdown pass and receive a touchdown pass.

However, the Eagles reportedly have no quarterback controversy: Carson Wentz is Philadelphia’s number #1 being the 2016 No.2 NFL Draft pick and in his current season throwing 3,296 yards and 33 touchdowns in just 13 games prior to his knee injury.

Eagles Wide Receiver, Alshon Jeffery confirmed Wentz position next season when asked which quarterback will start: “Man, here you go. Shut you off, man. You know who is throwing the ball. Carson, of course.”

What does that mean for Nick Foles?

Foles signed a five-year contract with the Eagles but includes a major loophole, if he is on the Eagles’ roster come February 2019, the final three years of the contract will be void making him a free agent.

Essentially, contract-wise, his Eagles deal is technically a two-year contract which allows him to test free agency after 2018.

In 2017, it was released that Foles contemplated retirement saying, “he had no love for the game” following being traded several times, and at one point unemployed by the NFL, he credited his faith for driving him back to the game.

The Eagles arguably could have also been a part of restoring Foles faith starting him in the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl after being cut from the Rams in 2016 and declined by the Chiefs in 2017.

But is that enough for him to stay with the Philadelphia, Eagles?

There are many teams in need of a starting QB and with a Super Bowl MVP under his belt, why wouldn’t he want to start?

As we learned from last night’s game, nothing in life is ever certain; only time will tell what Nick Foles next move will be.
