Three Golden Knights Injured in Parachute Mishap in Homestead

Three U.S. Army “Golden Knights” soldiers are recovering from their injuries following a parachute accident in South Florida.
The mishap occured over Homestead Air Reserve Base early this morning, which is south of Miami.
The soldiers were jumping as part of the Golden Knights parachute demonstration team when some kind of malfunction occurred.
The soldiers were taking part in a dangerous ‘halo jump’ where jumpers free fall and open their chutes shortly before landing.

The parachutists fell fourteen-thousand feet in the air before opening those chutes during a training exercise at a South Florida air force base.
Emergency crews rushed there, taking the parachutists airlifting them to Jackson Memorial Trauma Center in Miami. The extent of their injuries is not known.
