Yankees Drop Torreyes

The Yankees have been making moves early and as to no surprise, they have opened up a roster spot by designating infielder Ronald Torreyes for assignment. The 26-year-old Utility Player was among the most popular in the Yankees clubhouse. Torreyes hit .292 with 36 RBIs in 315 at-bats in 108 games in 2017. Unfortunately, he spent much of this year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre hitting .280 with 7 RBIs in 100 at-bats in 41 games for the Yankees. If it wasn’t for the great rookie season from Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar, I am sure Torreyes would have been playing more. In return, New York picked up Right-hander Parker Bridwell off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels to make room for him on the roster.
