Yankees Overpowered By Machado

Another tough loss for the Yankees…  Orioles shortstop Manny Machado went 3-for-4 with 2 home runs in Baltimore’s 6-5 win over New York. It is obvious that New York is looking for a 3rd baseman and Machado is hitting .314 with 23 home runs and 63 RBIs in his first year as a full-time shortstop. Rumors have been circulating that the Yankees are interested so where does that leave Miguel Andujar. We shall find out come trade deadline…

After splitting a Monday doubleheader with the Orioles, the Yankees built a 5-3 lead in the 7th inning to then lose it in the 9th inning on a 2-out walk-off single by Jonathan Schoop… There is no explanation on why the New York is 4-5 this season against the worst team in baseball with a record of 26-66.

For the Yankees, Greg Bird went 1-for-3 with 4 RBI’s and Didi Gregorius went 3-for-4 while Masahiro Tanaka pitched a decent game going 4 1/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits with 5 K’s. It was the bullpen not being able to contain the Orioles after a 3-run lead.
